06-10-09 R1 Replay Bedfont H : Well, what you say? This was a tough game. In more ways than one. Very physical. Ref had a lot of work to do tonight. Despite all that, we got it! A fantastic penalty save by Mikey Hunter on what looked like a very dubious penalty shout really settled the team and himself. Made some fine stops tonight, and a very very deserved MOM to MH. The first game just a distant memory.
Lot of handbags and some fierce tackling, it was surprising we didn't have a right punch up in the second half. It finally all blew up when their keeper Lewis gave The Hawk a punch in the back of the head in the first half of ET. Ref had no choice but to send him off. Rob Boddy the penalty master stepped p to make it 1-0. From there on in it started even further down hill. In the second half of ET Sam Blundell came on and the fresh legs really killed them. One goal disallowed just made him do it again minutes later to make it 2-0 and close out the game. The mood was a bit dour leaving the field, but the records say, Shoreham 2, Bedfont 0 AET. That'll do. Redhill in the next round. In the same league as ourselves, so we know them and they know us. We actually play them n the league 2 weeks before this game, so that will be very revealing for both sides.
Well done Mussels. " We gave nothing, and took everything"

03-10-09 R1 Bedfont A : Hi all. So our away adventures continue. Bedfont, under the shadow of Heathrow Airport were todays opponents. Light traffic on the M25 meant we got there quite early, so plenty of time for a game of darts before getting into the match, and all that entails.
Well, what to say? A very windy pitch with a cross wind of 17mph mid life difficult for everybody over 5' tall. This was a good game, well battled all around the park. If we expected an easy ride in this round, it certainly wasn't going to be here today. We were equally matched in all areas today, and everybody worked hard. The constant stream of airliners every 30 seconds was kind of weird. OB had an early chance but the keeper was there to scoop it up, eventually. We also had a decent shout for a goal when the ball seemed to cross the line. Much to many peoples amazement it wasn't given and the game carried on. 0-0 at half time. A quick brew and a biccy and we were back to it. Eventually we got a breakthrough and Foggy clogged it in. Super goal well taken. However, Bedfont dug in, and a bit of dodgy defending late on let them find the back of the net and take it to extra time.With no quarter given or taken, it ended 1-1, with a replay on Tuesday 6th October at Middle Road.
Despite the result, we managed to cheer ourselves up with a pint or two on the way home. Many thanks to Katie who worked hard behind the bar (she's the one with JL), and Alison in the T-Bar for making that lovely Bacon burger for me. Interestingly, following on from their scouting trip to us a few weeks ago, we apparently can lay claim to being the reason that Cheesy Chips are now available from the Teabar! Good old Sussex!

2ndQR 19-09-09 Worthing A : The road to Wembley starts here - again! A good cup-tie this mostly, spirited and enjoyable to watch with chances at either end. Great goals from Lee Eastman and Josh Clayman in either half gave us a great 2-1 victory. On one or two occasions I was in danger of nodding off though, particularly when I moved down behind the Worthing goal and the play promptly disappeared up the far end for 10 minutes! Always the way.

I thought the ref and officials did well for the most part, with no cards or bookings, just a stern word here and there kept the game in check, so well done! The usual moans from here and there about offside, but you'll never please both sides at the same time will you?
